All Things Must End

There’s probably room for some romanticized quote about the passage of times and doors closing, but that’s not really our style. However, we do love story telling so gather around children.

We started this whole deal in 2014 as an excuse to spend a weekend doing Volkswagen stuff with our friends. Of course it had to have a name so we just went with something obvious and put out invites to friends and acquaintances in the local community.

That first year was a couple of people on a small patch of grass sleeping in cruddy tents, drinking crap drinks, and eating Dutch oven cobbler. The second year the grass patch was a little bigger, the drinking was still crap, and no one’s sure if a cobbler was made. In the third year we realized that maybe this was its own thing and that we had definitely outgrown the space and location we were in.

(Pretty sure that’s the year we discovered lumpia and it changed everyone’s life. Who cares if there was cobbler or not?)

In 2017 we moved to what has been our home for the last decade, Lava Mobile Estates. This ended up being a real turning point for the event. Not only was the grass quality much better, the space was much larger, and the people running the space were more than happy to have us there.

It’s grown and grown and grown.

What started as an event to spend time with friends turned into an event that we spent time with friends and made new friends year on year.

In that time, we’ve also grown and grown. Started families, built careers, traveled, and all kinds of other adventures. That’s what brings us here today.

This will be the last year of VW’s at the Springs.

We know that this has been as big a part of some people’s lives as it has ours, so we want to send it off with a bang.

Registration will open on Sunday, June 21. We’ll be sending out some pre-registration codes to people who have been coming since the beginning and remaining spots will be available.

Since it’s our last year, I think it goes without saying/reminding that this is a Volkswagen event. If you (including your friends or family) do not have a Volkswagen or VAG vehicle, please do not plan on parking it at or near the event. We cannot guarantee there will be space for you so it’s best to plan accordingly.

Besos,

Cody, McKenzie, Ian, and Veronica
